Pixi by petra glowy gossamer duo highlighters Review & Swatches

Updated: Aug 12, 2019

Highlighters are a product that can really help make or break a look. If the formula and application is done right, they can really enhance your make up look. If the formula is on the chunkier/glittery side it can look a little tacky. Everyone's preference when it comes to highlighter is different. I personally like a soft-lit highlight that looks more natural on my skin in my day-to-day life, as I enjoy going for that naturally healthy look. On the rare occasion that i do go out I'm not opposed to a beaming bright, metallic highlighter. Needless to say I have tested my fair share of highlighters over the years. I was super excited when Pixi sent me their Glow-y Gossamer Duo's. Not only because i had great things about them, but also because of the £20 price tag.

The Pixi Glow-y Gossamer Duo's are currently available in two different shades – Subtle Sunrise and Delicate Dew. Delicate Dew consists of a soft romantic icy pink and a pretty rose gold. Subtle Sunrise consists of a pretty champagne gold and a rosy pink with a soft gold shift. Though Subtle Sunrise is probably the most popular of the 2, I actually prefer how Delicate Dew Looks on my skin. Delicate Dew flatters pale-to-medium skin tones, and Subtle Sunrise looks stunning on Medium-to-deep skin tones.

The texture of these highlighters are really unique, in that they feel creamy but apply like a powder. If i am being honest before i tested these, i hadn't liked a single highlighter from the drugstore. So i was blown away when i found the quality of these to easily rival that of a high-end brand like Becca and Nars. The soft texture actually reminds me of the newer Nars highlighters but with more of an intense pay-off. A little product really does go a long way with these.

The first few times i applied these I used my trusty Anastasia A23 brush which i use with pretty much every highlighter. However, i found that it would enhance any texture I had. So I started applying first with my finger to lay the product down, and then went in with my trusty Wayne Goss Air Brush to blend it out. The look is so much softer and prettier. I would say if you like a more blinding highlight i'd recommend the Anastasia. If you like a more natural or editorial look to then I'd recommend the Wayne Goss. The more rosier shades in the palettes are stunning as blush toppers, to help give the apples of your cheeks a beautiful pinched glow.

The Glow-y Gossamer Duo's are Available in the UK for £20 each directly from Pixi Beauty or through the retailers Marks & Spencers and Look Fantastic.

Overall, If you are someone who enjoys an intense glow, these are most definitely worth checking out. They have fast become one of my favourite highlighters in my collection. They have an interesting texture and who can argue with the pricetag for basically two highlighters in one?!
